More About Danielle Goshawk

About Me
I am a fully qualified and experienced integrative therapist; this means that I have been trained to draw on different psychological theories and techniques to work with you as an individual to address your particular needs.
I share the widely held belief that the relationship between therapist and client is the most important aspect of our work together. As such, I offer a confidential, non-judgmental and empathetic approach to enable you to feel safe and comfortable enough to talk about yourself and explore the difficulties that you are experiencing. I am here to support you as you work towards a greater understanding of yourself and make positive changes for the future.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Masters degree (MSc) in Therapeutic Counselling from the University of Greenwich. I have several years experience providing counselling in various settings, including in NHS primary care (GP surgeries).

I have worked with individuals suffering from many different mental health conditions, such as depression and anxiety, as well as those struggling with life events, such as bereavement and relationship issues.

I have also worked in NHS secondary care as a psychotherapist, working with individuals with more complex mental health needs or who had experienced various forms of trauma and abuse.

More recently, I have been trained to work with couples and I approach this with the same principles that underpin individual therapy. My aim is to understand the dynamics of the couple relationship in order to help you as a couple communicate better with one another and find a way through difficulties within the relationship. It is important that both partners have an equal opportunity to speak and to hear one another and I will provide the space for that.

What to Expect
When you first contact me we can agree on an initial meeting date and I'll give you more information on how to find me. If you call me and I am unable to answer right away please leave a voicemail message with your details and I will call you back as soon as possible, no later than the next working day.

In our first session I will ask you for a bit of background information to get a picture of what has brought you to counselling at this particular time and what you would like to get out of it. More importantly, it is also a chance for you to get a sense of how I work and whether you feel like we can work well together. At the end of this session, if you are happy to go ahead, we can book in a time for ongoing sessions.

There is no restriction on how many sessions you can have. I suggest that we start with 6 sessions and then review how the work is going. For longer-term work we will have regular reviews to check that you are still happy with how we are working together.

Individual counselling sessions last for 50 minutes (60 minutes for couples) and are held weekly at the same time. If this might be a problem for you, if you do shift work for example, I will be as flexible as possible to accommodate you and we can work together to figure out how to have the reliability of regular counselling sessions that still fit with your schedule.

Location
I have a purpose-built counselling room in Eltham on a quiet road with plenty of unrestricted parking. I am also easily accessible by public transport.

Fees

Individuals: first session is half price (£20) and it is £40 per session thereafter.
Couples: £55 per 1 hour session.

Concessions are available for students and those on low income and can be agreed in the first session.
